Touching Acts entered the year 2020 on a positive trajectory as the organisation achieved to secure residential space for its 20 beneficiaries, all under one roof. They moved in on 11 January 2020.
January was a busy month for Touching Acts (TA) because we had to ensure that by the time schools reopen for this calendar year, everything was in order at the new boarding home. This meant we had to move against time as we sought further donations for house goods and appliances which will make the house feel like a home.
Thanking all our donors, we managed to secure most of the essentials required for the livelihood of our beneficiaries, they all now live happily together and feel safe under the watch and loving eyes of their caregivers and matron.
Founded by Noluyolo Zintle Mehlomakhulu, TA always sought to provide a better life for children from eTipini, a dumping site in Mthatha. These children lived under dangerous and inhumane conditions with no guarantee of any meal nor prospects of finishing school. Because of TA and it’s donors, all 20 children now have a positive outlook to life and are being groomed to grow up with a high self-esteem.
The new boarding home is situated in Norwood, Mthatha.
Moving into this new home has been a great experience and a symbol of hope to our beneficiaries.
The joy they have is unspeakable as they believe that it is the beginning of a new life and that they will stay freely in a safe and healthy environment.
“What makes me happy about being here is that I feel safe, comfortable and ever since I got here, I have never gone to sleep on an empty stomach “, said 13-year-old Ayola Mbazwana.
Touching Acts believes that providing a warm and loving boarding home for these children will tremendously impact on their lives.
